Founded by Charles Lewis Tiffany, Tiffany & Co. has been the home of the finest diamonds in the world since 1837. 

They quickly attracted an elite clientele from movie stars all the way to heads of state, but entered new realms of luxury with the acquisition of the French Crown Jewels.

Accumulating a reputation of being home to the world's finest jewellery, their designs have pushed boundaries for over 180 years and they're showing no signs of stopping.

In 2017, Tiffany & Co. celebrated their 180th birthday. To pay homage to this milestone, we took a look at the designs that got everyone talking about Tiffany.   

Famous Tiffany & Co. Designs

Tiffany's designs are renowned for their prestige, creativity and quality.

These designs have come from a lineage of designers such as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Jean Schlumberger, Elsa Peretti and Paloma Picasso who took the brand from strength to strength.

Kicking off our list is none other than the Tiffany diamond.

The Tiffany Diamond - The King of Diamonds

The Tiffany Diamond has been with the brand for over 140 years. The diamond was purchased in 1877 as a rough stone weighing a mighty 287 carats.

When Tiffany fashioned it into a diamond, the rough stone was cut down to 128.54 carats and renamed to the Tiffany Diamond.

Over time, the Tiffany Diamond has been fashioned into numerous pieces and worn to ultra-exclusive events.

Did you know that only three people have worn the Tiffany Diamond? This ultra-exclusive club includes 

  • Mrs. E. Sheldon Whitehouse who wore it at a 1957 Tiffany Ball.
  • Audrey Hepburn who wore it whilst promoting Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961
  • Lady Gaga who wore it to the 91st Academy Awards in 2019. 

The Tiffany Setting - The Ring of Rings

Tiffany & Co. redefined ring design in 1886.

At the time, ring designs obscured the brilliance of a diamond because they would be included in the bezel setting.

Tiffany sought to liberate the diamond with a 6-prong setting. This move lifted the diamond above the band where it could show its brilliance.

Rejecting this convention encouraged the USA to adopt it as a standard.

The Blue Box - The Greatest Love Stories

There's a saying..."it's not what it is, it's what it represents."

To give you an idea, think about the LV monogram, Rolex logo, Ferrari badge or even the Superman theme tune - you just know it.

The Tiffany & Co. Blue Box encapsulates everything that they are and you can't even buy it because you get it for free. Well, after you buy something of course!

Introduced by Charles, their founder, it's the one thing that can be seen across the room, or in a crowded area, and will raise a few heartbeats in the process!

Tiffany & Co. Window Display on 5th Avenue

It's a technicality!

As the whole world knows, there's a flagship Tiffany store on 5th Avenue in New York.

Tiffany uses this display to show a variety of products so passersby can see what Tiffany & Co. are up to.

This window was also used as the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany's starring Hollywood icon, Audrey Hepburn!

It may not be a piece of jewellery but it has become synonymous with the brand around the world.
